Default Can this wheel be repaired?

I purchased a set of polished C5 wheels and UPS damaged one of the rear wheels. These are C5 polished thin spoke wheels and I need to know if these can be repaired... I have seen some videos on YouTube where they sand and polish them back to life...
I don't even know if these are clear coated or not... Any help would be appreciated.

I'll check out you web site today. As for the repair, the wheel and tire was insured for $200 so if they take the wheel and tire I am out much more than the $200.
This may come out of my pocket... I am not sure how UPS works.

Who insured it, you or the seller? If it was the seller, at least in my opinion, he screwed you. I've sold things through E-bay, etc, and if I have to ship it, I make sure that the item is WELL insured, so if something happens, neither I, nor the buyer, get short-changed....

I hear ya... The seller put the insurance on. Supposedly there was only a little curb rash on the wheel but the damage is right at a spot where there is curb rash... There is also a small spot about 8" away where there is curb rash but not knowing the seller I can't say either way... May or may not have been there in the first place.
I am going to have to eat the cost if the wheel can be repaired. The tire alone is worth 2 or 3 hundred.

Just something to go by. I'm in the Dallas area and I had a wheel (that I eventually sold since it was chrome, to expensive to repair) with just a little less damage, and there were a couple of places that would have came out to me and repaired it from $75 to $100, if it had been aluminum. I had aluminum, but it was chromed aluminum, had to be re-dipped, wasn't worth it. Check around, it can be repaired.

I agree- It shouldn't be too expensive to repair. I had several curb spots and dents in the lips of my CCW classics (mainly the fronts). Dropped the set off at a place in Raleigh and they repaired the dents all for $75. I didn't have them polish or anything as I am doing that myself. A Sunday afternoon should be plenty of time for you to hand sand and polish if you get nowhere with the seller or shipping insurance.

A word of caution, however. The usual way that people make scrapes "invisible" in an aluminum wheel, is to "sand it out" then polish the repair. HOWEVER, "sanding out" a scrape is accomplished by REMOVING material until the damage is no longer visible...but some of the metal is removed, metal that gives the wheel it's strength.

I ended up taking my wheel up to AWRS in Warren Michigan for a reman on the wheel. They will sand out the scratches and put the wheel through a polish process by a machine and tell me it will look as good as new when completed. But the cost is also $250...
I will post a pic of the wheel when it is completed.

I just paid $400 for a full set of original C5 thin spokes (the Alcoa version). Keep an eye on the C5 For Sale section and they show up from time to time - worst I've seen is $200 per wheel.

Default rear wheel has been repaired, photos

I picked up my repaired rear wheel from Alloy Wheel Repair Specialists today and must say I am impressed with the results. The wheel looks like new, is straighten if it was bent (didn't think so) and has a powered coated clear coat on it for lasting beauty. The cost was a bit but if you take a look at the before and after pics you might agree it was worth it.

Looks like they did a very good job on the repair.
