Default Tire Size Input

I'm getting ready to order set of Weld RT-S wheels 18" all around for my GS. Fronts will be 8" wide and rears 11" wide. Rear tires will be 345/35-18 which measure 27.5" tall. My question is regarding front tire size. I am debating between a 245/40-18 or a 245/45-18. The 245/40 measures 25.7" tall which is basically stock height while the 245/45 is one inch taller at 26.7". I'm wondering which one is a better fit? The taller tire is closer to the 345 rears I will be running but over an inch taller then stock front tires. I'm wondering if this will create any clearance issues as car is lowered. Also want to avoid active handling issues etc. Any input is appreciated, thanks folks.

Why so narrow in the front if you have a gran Sport which uses a 275 from the factory?

Out of those two choices the 245/40-18 is the better choice and will make the electronics happy.

As far as handling issues though the 345 rear with a 245 front will create massive understeer

Most C6Z and GS running the 345 rear width run a 295 front width

The problem is Weld doesn't make a 9" front which would be ideal. They only make an 8" and 10". I thought about running a 10"/295 combo but was concerned that would be too big so that's why I'm thinking 8"/245 but now have the height dilemma.

I'm wondering why do you say the 245/40 would keep the electronics happy? I'm thinking on the contrary. Wouldn't the taller tire (245/45) keep the electronics happy since it is closer in height to the rear tires?

the front tire diameter needs to be approximately 1" shorter than the rear tire

Default tire

I'm confused, wouldn't the 245/45 at 26.7 put him closer to the 1" difference? The reason I am interested is I will be using a M&H 325/45/17 at 28" and looks like the 245/45/18 at 26.7 would be the one for me.

You and me both my friend!! I think I'm going to go with the 245/45.

oops ... I misread the rear tire size and yes you are correct the 245/45-18 would be closer to the correct diameter as the 345/35-18 is 27.5" tall
