Default Tire Storage Question

I have some Michelin Sport Cup 2 tires and I'm trying to store them in the best possible way to increase there life. I have an attached garage but its not heated and the temp in Louisville can get in the single digits in the winter months.

Could I get away with stacking the tires and covering them? Or do I need to put them in the basement?

Just to be safe, I'd store them in the basement.

I usually get a set of custom wheels for my car, and what I did with my C-5, was drive the OE wheels and tires until they were somewhat worn, then used them for "winter storage duty". At that point I bought a new set of custom wheels, with new tires, for summer driving. Come late fall, when the car goes away for the season, the "good" wheels and tires come off, and the OEs go on.....

I would put them in the basement.
I would put them in black plastic bags to keep away from sunlight.
