My wife and I purchased this car in 1990 while living in Minnesota. Titled vette just sitting in a farmers field since the early 80s. I was in the middle of a seven year major custom on my 80 vette which was completed in 95. We moved to Livermore, CA in 96 and drug the 63 along. Then moving back to the midwest in 99 after picking up a CA 67 SS Chevy II. Very busy raising kids, starting a business and very involved in our Baptist church has kept me away from starting this long-awaited project. I played with tweaking SS over the years. We also enjoyed boating in the Ozarks with our family. Began to wonder if my own kids truly understood how hard it was to side-line my hard-core-car-guy-plans all these years. No regrets. God has blessed me with a great wife and kids. Next year, we will have both kids off to college and the in-laws moved close by, so time to get kicking!
Began setting my Missouri shop up over this last winter and began stripping down the 63 this spring. I havent pulled the trigger on the chassis purchase which will set the high-bar on this ride. Tough to write a check for a rolling chassis costing more than my Nova may be worth . Planning on an LS3 with an automatic. The body will utilize GTS customs wider rear quarters so I can squeeze at least P315s under the tail. Mostly- stock body, but I have some tricks planned as well. Zora and crew did such a blasted nice job, I wont deviate much. The interior will be built from scratch since thats what I really enjoyed doing on my 80. Got to keep the soft top! This will be the car my wife and I will travel all over this great nation so ride, handling, comfort, performance and stunning looks are the primary goals. No trailer queen here, Ive gotten enough grief over the years about my 80.
Well, that pretty much sets the stage. Hope you folks enjoy the posts and pictures. God Bless! Scott Read more »
