1. Magnetic Ride Control

Magnetic Ride Control was first pioneered nearly a decade ago by Corvette engineers.  Today, it's offered on every single model of the iconic sports car.  The technology utilizes advanced magnetorheological science to produce the highest levels of precision in regards to shock damping.  Microscopic particles in the shock absorbers react to magnetic inputs, allowing the driver to optimize the ride for comfort or ultimate track performance. Fun fact, the suspension system is so good it is used by none other than Ferrari!

2. StabiliTrak

StabiliTrak, Chevrolet's electronic stability control system, is another innovative technology that first appeared on the Corvette.  The system has proven itself so capable that it is now employed across the Chevy's entire vehicle lineup. StabiliTrak goes beyond a stability control system with the capability to adjust braking and reduce power to each individual wheel.  This helps to prevent understeer and oversteer and can prevent rollovers in SUVs and trucks.  However, in the Corvette, StabiliTrak enables even novice drivers to enjoy spirited driving in a safer manner.

3. Launch Control

Launch control, which automatically adjusts engine torque to produce the best possible acceleration, is yet another technology pioneered on the Corvette.  To produce consistent quarter mile times with a manual transmission, all a driver has to do is activate launch control and hold the throttle down all the way.  The system automatically determines the best possible engine speed based on a number of parameters.  Then all you have to do is release the clutch and enjoy the brutal acceleration off the line.

4. 7-Speed Manual Transmission

Chevrolet wasn't the first automotive manufacturer to introduce a 7-speed manual transmission in a car.  But the Corvette was the very first non-high end supercar to offer that extra gear, bringing it to the masses.  In a time when most sports car manufacturers are moving away from manual transmissions altogether, Chevy is sticking to their roots.  The modern interpretation of the manual sports features like active rev matching, a dual disc clutch, and a dual mass flywheel for smooth shifting and ultimate performance.

5. Fiberglass bodies

The union of fiberglass and the Corvette seem synonymous today, but using the lightweight material was a big risk for Chevrolet back in the 1950's.  The Corvette wasn't the first production fiberglass-bodied car, but it was the first mass produced one.  In the 1950's, fiberglass was an exotic material that offered numerous advantages.  Since Chevrolet intended for the Corvette to be a balanced sports car, the weight reduction, and economical manufacturing process were a perfect fit for the low production car.
