9 More Classic Red, White, and Blue Patriotic Paint Jobs

The Corvette is a uniquely American interpretation of the sports car, and what better way to celebrate that than to paint it up with a red, white, and blue patriotic paint job? Here are some of our favorites from around the web.

1. Gumball 3000 C1 Corvette

The Gumball 3000 is a high speed, public road rally for people with more money than sense. All manner of expensive, exotic, and fast cars show up to drive fast and party and a fairly stock looking C1 Corvette with a stars and stripes paint job was among them. Not to insult owners of early, straight rear axle Corvettes, but in the 21st Century, even the best of these is outclassed by a V6 Honda Accord in the handling and braking department.

2. 1962 Corvette Resto-mod

The owner of this car wisely chose to upgrade a lot of it, instead of just having a 327ci/Powerglide cruiser. Now under the hood is a custom built 383ci small-block with aluminum heads and dual 4bbl carbs, backed by a modern 5-speed manual. Modern lower profile tires and disc brakes, plus some chassis improvements go a long way to making this 1962 sports car able to hold its own in the modern world.

3. Felicity Shagwell's 1965 Corvette

If you don't remember Heather Graham, or her character Felicity Shagwell's Corvette, from the second Austin Power's movie you should check your pulse because you might be dead. Not only was Ms. Graham again typecast as a smoking hot babe, she drove this awesome American flag draped 1965 Corvette. Now the car belongs to an enthusiast by the name of Larry Sachs, who told Vette magazine all about it.

4. Vintage Racing Corvette

This is just an awesome race Vette found online somewhere. Obviously it has been upgraded for safety with a full road cage and more, but it also sports a paint job that should scare the Porsches and Jaguars.

5. Stars and Stripes Stingray

This is another stars and stripes car we found online and have no information on. This subtle flag treatment appears to be a wrap, if not it is a very good airbrush job.

6. Bill Jobe Supernova SCCA 1964 Corvette

This car may have a slightly less obvious American flag motif to its paint, but it is a much more important car than a lot of others. This car was built and raced from new, and took home many trophies, and a few SCCA championships in its class in 1971 and 72. You can read a much more in-depth profile over on Corvette Blogger.

7. Colchester, CT D.A.R.E. Corvette

This Corvette has a very interesting story to go along with its flag waving look. In 1993 police arrested a drug dealer and among the assets that they seized was a 1967 Corvette (in 1998 he was arrested again, so he did not learn his lesson). The car was painted the way you see it and for the next 25 years was used as a promotional tool to convince kids to skip drugs and get addicted to speed the right way, with a fast car. In 2013 the city sold the Corvette at auction.

8. Bicentennial Race Cars

Despite Vietnam and Watergate, America was pretty proud of itself in the 1970s when the 200th birthday of our nation was getting close. Too bad the production Corvettes were a poor shadow of themselves thanks to smog laws, safety regulations, and unleaded gas. John Greenwood, whose race cars always looked so good, and were fast as hell may have started the trend with his stars and stripes racers. Some southern rebels had to get into the act, and the stars and bars car in the lower right won the IMSA championship in 1971.

9. Andy Ross Cold Dead Hand Corvette

Country singer Andy Ross is a big believer the what made America great are Corvettes, God, and Guns, and the ladies seem to agree. IF you are a fan of Counting Cars on the History channel you probably saw this car being built. It features a fuel injected big block, with 8 individual velocity stacks through the hood, and that custom paint job celebrating the 2nd Amendment.
