2019 Corvette ZR1: $200,000 Flipper’s Special

2019 Corvette ZR1

Get-rich-quick schemes were never this rich, or quick, for that matter.

The 2019 Corvette ZR1 is just hitting dealerships and the hands of reviewers. And as we expected, it’s also significantly raising the bar for affordable supercars. With prodigious power, insane grip, and mild manners, you won’t find anything that can touch it on a track for anywhere near this ZR1’s $137K or so asking price. But, as we often see with limited production supercars, a few enterprising folks are wasting no time trying to make a quick buck off their freshly minted rides.

The latest of which is this red and black 2019 Corvette ZR1, which recently popped up on Cars.com sporting a healthy $198,000 asking price. Granted, we know that Chevy is only building around 200 of these things a month. Which means that the laws of supply and demand clearly apply here. But a 45% increase over sticker price is clearly a case of price gouging. Not to mention the timing, placing this thing on the market almost immediately after delivery.

For that price, you might expect a well-crafted sales ad or maybe even some decent pictures. But you’ll get neither in this case. Just a basic list of options and a group of shots that look like they were taken by a three-year-old using a first-gen Android phone with a smear of petroleum jelly on the lens (sorry, Apple haters).

With only 283 miles on the odometer, you probably won’t find too many defects, at least. And this 2019 Corvette ZR1 is equipped with the ZTK Track Performance Package, which makes it that much more desirable. But if you want to play with Chevy’s latest and greatest Corvette, you’ve clearly got to pay. Whether it be on the second-hand market or in the form of greedy dealer markups!
