Somebody wanted this 2023 Corvette Z06 bad enough to pay a substantial premium, and it isn’t even fully loaded.

It’s no secret that the 2023 Corvette Z06 is the one of the most coveted new vehicles on the planet at the moment, one that’s facing extreme demand with little supply. You don’t have to have a degree in economics to know what that means – unless you’re lucky enough to be on the short list of folks that ordered one and took delivery of it at MSRP, you’re going to pay a pretty premium for that privilege. And clearly, at least one person was willing to shell out an incredible sum for a 2023 Corvette Z06, as this one hammered for an eye-watering $275,000 at Mecum’s recent Kissimmee auction.

Our first question, as one might imagine, is who sold this 2023 Corvette Z06 in the first place? We ask this because, as Corvette fans are well aware, GM asked new Z06 owners not to sell their cars for a year after purchasing them, or face some repercussions. Those range from losing the ability to transfer certain warranties to the privilege of placing future sold orders or reservations for any GM product – not just Corvettes.

In this particular case, it seems as if this 2023 Corvette Z06 wasn’t sold by an individual looking to make a quick buck, however. Rather, it was auctioned by a dealer who had an allocation and simply decided that this was the best way to make a hefty profit without enduring the bad press of listing it online with a massive markup. Truthfully, given the backlash those dealers have faced in recent years, who can blame them?

Regardless, this isn’t the first time we’ve seen a huge price tag attached to a new Z06, and it certainly won’t be the last. As for the car itself, the new owner is at least getting a sweet ride for their substantial outlay of cash, though this one humorously isn’t fully loaded – in fact, it isn’t equipped with the pricey Z07 Performance Package. Regardless, someone clearly wanted a new Z06 in a bad way and had the means to acquire it. Whether or not they live to regret that decision, well, we’ll just have to wait and find out.
