Bloomington Gold celebrates an important milestone with a truly jaw-dropping Corvette lineup.

Bloomington Gold has long been known as the “grandaddy” of all Corvette shows, routinely featuring the finest examples of America’s sports car on earth. This year marks that event’s 50th anniversary, so one could safely assume that it will feature a truly amazing collection of Corvettes, and that’s precisely the case, as organizers recently revealed a stellar lineup that makes next week’s installment well worth the trip.

That list includes a 1956 factory Sebring racer, the 1956 SR2, a 1957 Corvette from The Chip Miller Collection, a one-of-three 1960 Cunningham LeMans racer, 1960 Camoradi LeMans racer, 1961 Sebring racer, 1963 Z06, a 1963 Harvey Earl styling car, 1963 Grand Sport #4, a fuelie 1965 model, Peter Fonda‘s former 1965 Corvette, big block 1966 and 1967 cars, a developmental 1966 L88 Roger Penske racer, a 12-mile big block 1967, 1968 Band-Aid racer, a 13k-mile 1969, one-of-two 1969 ZL1, the only production 1971 ZR1 convertible, a one-of-a-dozen 1971 ZR2, 8k-mile 1971 LS6, a rare 1975 convertible, a 1978 Indy pace car, 43-mile 1990 ZR1, 1990 Callaway Corvette, 1996 Grand Sport convertible, and Dale Earnhardt‘s 2001 C5.R.

This year’s Bloomington Gold lineup will be formally revealed on June 9 at the Gold Gala event, which still has tickets available for a mere $20. As for the 50th Anniversary 2022 Bloomington Gold Corvette Show itself, that extravaganza will take place on June 9-11 in the Bone Student Center at Illinois State University, which is exactly where the event used to take place, making it a fitting homecoming.

Bloomington Gold has evolved greatly over the years, starting out as the the Special Collection in 1984 before becoming the Great Hall and eventually what is now known as the Gold Collection. Organizers change the theme of the event every year, with a special gathering of carefully curated, invitation-only rides. The theme for this year’s event is “A Salute to the Gold Collection,” which isn’t terribly surprising given the fact that it’s celebrating a half-century of excellence.
