After Every Delay, Would You Cancel Your C8 Order?

C8

Originally placed in September 2019 for a 50th birthday gift, his C8 order never moved forward. The forum has a few words to say, though.

Patience is a virtue. For more than a few who’ve waited decades, their virtue would be rewarded with the first-ever production-ready mid-engine C8 Corvette in 2020. A strike delayed the arrival of the C8 era by a month or so, but more than a few orders found their way home prior to the current global environment in mid-March.

Of course, patience can run out. One Corvette Forum forum member hoped his C8 would arrive for his 50th birthday. Alas, his order never moved forward, forcing his hand. But that’s just the beginning.

I’m Out…

“I have cancelled my order,” wrote Cabras1970. “The order was originally placed in September, and never advanced past 1100. Every time I contacted GM, I was told only the Corvette Concierge service could help me – they could not. The Concierge simply told me to speak to the dealer, because only the dealer would know about its allocations. The dealer repeatedly stated it knew nothing about its allocations until it received them, and to speak to GM […] The ordering process has only generated a foul experience of obvious [deceit].”

A few forum members weren’t having it, though. Thunder22 said he “stopped reading after ‘I canceled my order.” Another, speedlink, did read the original post, stating the OP’s dealer “clearly didn’t have an allocation” for his order, and would have had better luck with a forum dealer.

Others were supportive of the OP’s decision. Quick99 said that since the dealer “had no idea about its allocation, it also admitted it had no allocations and could not sell you a car.” He also said canceling the order “was a wise move,” and waiting would be fine.

“The dealer was told how many allocations to expect late last summer,” wrote one of our moderators, Zymurgy. “From that, they would have a good idea of roughly how many to expect each consensus cycle […] Once they got their first number in the first consensus (back in September), they knew what to expect. They told you that in an attempt to string you along so you wouldn’t bail and go someplace else.”

Have your say on the matter today on this thread in our forums.
