Supercar Matchup: the Corvette Z06 vs. the McLaren 650S

Can you recall any other Corvette being compared to as many bonafide supercars as the C7 has been compared to?

I love it!

Not only is it a sign that Chevy has more than nailed it, but it’s also a sign that the nameplate is now a serious competitor in the global market. To further drive home these truths, we get another supercar comparison, this time in the form of an Automobile Magazine review written by Arthur St. Antoine.

As you can see in the videos below, the writer and his co-pilots take the new Z06 and the McLaren 650S for a little test drive from Los Angeles to Palm Springs, with a few laps at Chuckwalla Valley Raceway thrown in for good measure. In comparing the two supercars, the writer seems to have taken a much stronger liking to the Corvette than its $300,000-plus rival. Okay, that’s not exactly true, but they’re certainly in the same ball park.

You’ll have to forgive me for gravitating to all the glowing Z06 praise, as the McLaren is obviously a fine machine too. Then again with a name like Detroit Steel, you can understand why I would be more drawn to Antoine’s Z06 admiration, which I suspect most here on Corvette Forum can relate to.
