Bargain-Priced C4 for Sale Has Three Pedals and Potential

Cheap C4 project car could be great way for someone to enter the Corvette world.

The Chevrolet Corvette has a well-deserved reputation as a world-class sports car that’s well within reach for just about anyone. Nowhere is this more true than in the early C4 market, where prices have bottomed out.

Early C4s are great cars, but they can currently be had for a song. For gearheads that don’t mind swinging their own wrenches (or pulling the trigger on their own spray gun), these cars represent a tremendous value with tons of potential. This 1985 Corvette, for example, found on Craigslist in Akron, Ohio, is a great candidate for a minor mechanical and cosmetic restoration.  The owner is asking just $2,500, and at that price, it’s worth putting some more money into.

According to the ad, this car has had a ton of mechanical work performed recently. While it still needs a few minor issues taken care of, it’s a car that can be driven while the loose ends are tied up.

The worst part of the car is the paint and interior. We love the black over red color combo, and we’d like to see this car restored to its former glory. If we were in the market, we’d buy it, enjoy it this summer, and have it painted over the winter, ready to turn heads next summer.

While most cheap C4s we see are automatic cars, this one has the Doug Nash 4+3 manual transmission. It’s also equipped with the desirable Z51 suspension package.

Being a 1985, this Corvette is the first year for tuned port injection. It’s widely considered a massive improvement over the troublesome Crossfire Injection seen on 1984 (and 1982) Corvettes. While we aren’t currently in the market, this car has us thinking strongly about selling off some stuff to make room.
