Best-Sounding C3 Corvettes on YouTube

Have we found the perfect pair?

In 2017, the C3 Corvette — especially in its later years — is a total anachronism. It’s a definite throwback to the era of big hair, bell bottoms, and Boogie Nights. For some of us, that’s a big part of the appeal.

C3 Corvette

There’s nothing quite like seeing a disco-era, lumpy-cammed C3 Corvette with side pipes and a tunnel ram with a pair of dual quads sticking through the hood. If you close your eyes, you can almost hear the raunchy, lopey burble of the exhaust directly beneath you, trying its hardest to drown out the Donna Summer 8-track punched into the Delco in the dash. Talk about pulling up to Studio 54 in style.

While disco is long dead (some think for the better), we can all agree that the soundtrack of an angry V8 at idle is timeless. Like a panther ready to pounce, it’s a sound both angry and subdued, laying in wait at stoplights, ready to take on all comers, or content just to cruise.

YouTube user ShadowVette76 has uploaded several videos of what appear to be a pair of nice ’76 Corvettes, one in red, and one in black. Both feature gorgeous paint, excellent aftermarket wheels, stainless-steel side pipes, and a COMP Thumpr cam. It might, in fact, be the same car, repainted.

Either way, these videos are just the ticket to spice up another boring day at the office. The cars sound just about perfect, and they’ll have you scouring Craigslist for cheap C3 project cars in no time flat.

Sometimes, the appeal of the Corvette isn’t the performance, the looks, or the luxury. Sometimes, it’s all about the mood. What’s your favorite Corvette exhaust note? Sound off in our forums! They’re fun and free to join, and packed full of Corvette enthusiasts just like you.
