I typically don’t get star struck, but I have to admit the idea of winning a C7 from Dale Earnhardt Jr. would be icing on the cake.

I mean, come on, who wouldn’t be excited after learning they’d won one of the most popular cars on the planet that was formerly owned by one of the most popular racecar drivers in the world?

Such was the case for a city worker in Greenville, NC by the name of Wendy Smith. Smith, who is battling breast cancer for the third time, won the Corvette after buying the winning $25 raffle ticket out of 8,888 tickets sold to raise money for the Dale Jr. Foundation for underprivileged kids. The foundation, started by Earnhardt, a huge Corvette fan, even paid the taxes for the new Cyber Gray Z51 Stingray.

Now, Wendy is spending time getting acclimated to her new car.

“It’s certainly a more powerful car than I’ve ever driven,” Smith told WITN News. “There’s a lot of bells and whistles — I have to read the manual!”

Here’s a bit of advice, Wendy: don’t let all that reading keep you away from time on the road with your new baby. Relax and enjoy the ride. The C7 is far less intimidating than it first seems.
