C5 Corvette Crushed By Honda Pilot

As this C5 Corvette owner was trying to pull out of a parking spot, a Honda Pilot backed completely onto the car in a horrifying scene.

These days, many of us are afraid to take our Corvettes anywhere, mainly because of other people. There are plenty of folks out there in the world that either don’t care about other people’s vehicles or simply don’t know how to drive, which is obviously rather dangerous for those around them. We’ve seen some pretty painful and boneheaded things happen to Corvettes over the years as a result, but this shocking video from Darwin Martinez showing his C5 Corvette getting destroyed in a mere matter of seconds is enough to give anyone pause.

Martinez had parallel parked his C5 Corvette recently in front of a barbershop in in Copiague, New York, and after his fresh cut, was trying to leave and head home, but found himself waiting on a Honda Pilot that was also trying to park in front of him. Martinez couldn’t pull out of his spot thanks to the fact that the Pilot was in the way, so he simply sat there and waited. However, instead of creeping his way into the open spot, the Pilot driver apparently floored it, for whatever reason.

“He just stepped on the gas so fast and started to back up so quick and went over my car. One second later, I see his rear wheels going through my windshield,” Martinez said. As we can see in the video, the Pilot backed right up over the Corvette’s hood, removing that particular part from the car and only stopping once it reached the windshield. The entire front of the poor Corvette was smashed to pieces in a matter of seconds in a truly horrifying scene.

Luckily for Martinez at least, he somehow wasn’t injured, save for a small cut on his hand, as he explained to Corvette Blogger. In fact, his first thought was to check in on the elderly Pilot driver, who apparently had no clue what had just happened. “He’s like, ‘let me back up a little bit,'” Martinez said. “He was still trying to back up because he thought he was on the curb. I said, ‘sir, you’re not going anywhere, you’re over my car. You just destroyed my car.’ Everything happened so fast – he was so confused. He really thought he was over the curb. I said, no sir, you’re over my car. Just leave it where it is, don’t do nothing.”

The Pilot driver – who apparently didn’t know he had a suspended license, either – noted that he saw the Corvette’s headlights at first, but when he looked back and didn’t see them, though it would be fine to “whip it” into the parking space. After that, he just heard crunching noises and apparently just thought he had backed onto the curb – not an actual, entire car. As for the C5 Corvette, well, it suffered some serious damage, but held up quite well regardless. Martinez is still waiting to hear back from his insurance company to see if his car can be repaired or if it will be totaled, though we’ll certainly be keeping our fingers crossed that his ride can be salvaged after this horrifying incident.
