C7 Z06 Takes on Procharged Shelby GT350

Corvette’s 154-MPH Run Not Enough to Beat Shelby GT350 Mustang on California Airstrip

There’s nothing to rev up your day like the sound of a great power dual among familiar foes.

As you can see in the video above, this latest one features a C7 Z06 battling a Procharged Shelby GT350 in a drag race. The clip shows the Z06 trying its best to keep up to the high-end Mustang at Shifts3ctor’s California Airstrip Attack in Coalinga, California. “Trying” being the operative word.

To put it in a clearer perspective, the Shelby GT350 is clocked at 169 mph, compared to the Z06’s 154 mph clip. But as you might have suspected, this isn’t your typical 526-horsepower Shelby GT350.

Nope, not at all.

According to the Bay Area Racing clip, this super-fast Mustang is the world’s first
F1a Procharged Shelby GT350. It sports a total output of 923 rwhp on the stock bottom end. Built by Cordes Performance Racing, the Shelby’s custom mods include ARH Long Tubes, OEM mufflers, and a Fore fuel system running on E85.

And there’s probably a few mods that the Cordes team is keeping under wraps. All of which puts this close-to-stock 650-horsepower Z06 at a serious disadvantage. Although one could argue it’s a much better performance deal, when you think about all the money put into modifying the Shelby.

After all, considering that the Procharged Shelby is believed to pack 200-plus hp more than the Z06, you’d expect that victory gap to be even greater.
