It may not be a factory dragster, but the C8 Corvette Z06 is crazy quick in a straight line, regardless.

Much ado has been made about the C8 Corvette Z06 over the past few years, which created a bit of problem – if it wasn’t the greatest thing to come out of GM’s Bowling Green plant in eons, fans would obviously have been disappointed. Luckily, with the embargo lifted on everyone’s Z06 reviews, that certainly doesn’t appear to be the case. In fact, the C8 Corvette Z06 seems to have exceeded expectations in that regard, which is truly impressive. However, even that glowing praise may not be quite as impressive as how the new Z06 handles itself in a straight line against some rather exotic competition.

Mega popular YouTuber Emelia Hartford is the one that we can credit with hosting one of the very first drag races between the C8 Corvette Z06 and some of its pricier rivals, the Ferrari 458 and Lamborghini Huracan Evo. Luckily for us, the as-of-now ultimate variant of the C8 generation punches above its weight class – much like the Corvette has always done – giving us a properly affordable rival to some of the world’s greatest exotics.

It can do that thanks to the addition of a pretty special powerplant – GM’s new 5.5-liter LT6 V8, which cranks out 670 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque and is mated to a lighting quick-shifting dual-clutch transmission and a car that weighs around 3,700 pounds. On the flip side, the Lambo makes 600 horsepower and tips the scales at 3,400 pounds, while the Ferrari generates 570 horsepower with 3,200 pounds to push around.

On paper, those numbers might seemingly make this a pretty close matchup for all three cars, but ultimately, that isn’t really the case. The Z06 slays the 458 in its first matchup, as well as a subsequent roll race. The Huracan Evo puts up more of a fight, but the Corvette launches so hard and leaps out to such a big early lead that there’s simply no way the Lamborghini can catch up before the two pass the finish line.

While some may be surprised by these results, given how incredibly the regular C8 launches, we certainly aren’t. This is a car that wasn’t necessarily built specifically to be some factory drag racer, and yet, physics and engineering prowess make it precisely that, giving C8 Z06 owners another proverbial feature in their cap.
