Cleetus Damages Leroy the Corvette During 6th Gear Burnout

By -

Before dropping the motor and adding some boost, Cleetus needs to repair fiberglass damaged during hooliganism.

Following some shenanigans during a few public events, YouTuber Cleetus McFarland‘s beloved C5 Corvette, Leroy, is feeling the pain of exploding rubber, as you can see in the video above. After a 6th gear, 185 mph, red-line bangin’ burnout, a tire on the left side of the car parted ways with its belts, and tore off a huge section of the rocker panel.

Not only does the fiberglass need to be repaired, but there’s now a bit of a safety concern. Temporary panels had been installed to keep rubber bits from finding their way into the interior, but those were also torn off during the tire disintegration, and are no match for the forces of that exploding tire. A tubing of some sort is likely to go over the wheels to prevent additional damage, and keep the car cleaner and safer.

Interestingly, an earlier burnout only resulted in a dusting of rubber. But the 6th gear burnout had the tire so hot, that the rubber melted itself to a lot of the interior and exterior parts of the car. Nothing that a can of brake clean can’t solve.

In the next coming weeks, though, Cleetus promises a lot of updates as far as the engine build is concerned, with the motor being pulled from the car and given a healthy makeover.
