Corvette C6 Z06 With Light Mods Aims for 9-Second Pass

We’ve covered some extreme Z06s here at Corvette Forum, which are setting the drag strip ablaze with sensational quarter mile times, but what about a regular Z06 with only a few light mods? Given that most of us aren’t looking to drive a 7-second (or less) Z06 on the street, a slightly more “average” Z06 is something of a welcome sight.

The Z06 in the video below has a cam swap and some headers. It is also sitting on some sticky rubber for the task of going down the strip, but those mods alone already make it faster than a bone stock C7 Z06.

The first race against a white Mustang GT500 is a walk in the park. That driver bungles up a shift, which makes the win easy for the Z06, who sets a 10.33 @ 135 miles per hour. The next race against a Roush Stage 3 tuned Mustang is a much closer fight. While slower on the overall time, with a 10.35, the trap speed is a bit higher, at just under 138 mph. Enough to stay ahead of the Roush, which winds up only a quarter second behind.

Not quite 9s, but not bad at all, right?
