Drag racing, celebs & charity poker highlight Illinois event, Sept. 20-23.

From its humble beginnings 25 years ago as a customer appreciation party, Corvette Funfest has since grown into one of the largest Corvette parties in the world. The 25th Annual Corvette Funfest happens September 20-23 on the Mid America Motorworks Corporate Campus in Effingham, Illinois. In honor of reaching that 25-year milestone, Mid America Motorworks has announced that the event will be free for pre-registered guests. They are also welcoming new industry celebrities and new vendors for the 2018 anniversary weekend, plus are offering educational seminars and off-site excursions. An “Ultimate Corvette Funfest” VIP package is also available.

For Corvette Funfest guests who enjoy testing their abilities, the 1/8 mile Drag Racing Event will return for 2018. “The need for speed and quality performance is in every Corvette owner’s blood,” says Mid America Motorworks founder Mike Yager. “We are excited to offer this classic racing, grudge-match event during Corvette Funfest.” The Drag Strip Event will take place at the nearby Coles County Dragway in Charleston, Illinois.

This year’s Funfest also includes “Sea of Silver,” a special display featuring silver-colored Corvettes. Also new for 2018 is a winner’s parade lap around the Funfest grounds before the Annual Celebrity Choice Awards ceremonies on Friday and Saturday.

On Thursday night, guests can partake in the “Fun Run Road Tour” — a scenic drive through Effingham County’s winding roads, rolling hills, and wooded lands before parading into downtown Effingham for the annual Welcome Fest Party.
