Manual C6 Corvette ZR1 on Nitro Pulls 9s

Think big turbos are the only way to get down the strip quickly? This nitro-powered ZR1 says otherwise. Spotted at Cecil County Dragway, this ZR1 defies the norm for a fast C6. Not only does it go against turbo logic for a fast C6, but it also does away with automatic transmissions in favor of a 6-speed manual! It’s refreshing to see this old-school approach to speed from Lund Performance.

If there’s anything that can be said about this video, it is that the driver is absolutely masterful with a clutch pedal. The launch was quite literally perfect, taking him all the way to a 9.33 @ 160 mph. There was a consequence for this speed though. We only get to see one launch, because after this pass, he got booted from the event for being too fast! With only one launch to work with, there has to be more speed left on the table. Can he get more speed out of it and enter the elusive 8-second club? We will have to wait and see. For now, I’m going to watch the video again and feel inferior about my launch technique.
