Corvette Racer Okay After Nasty Pro Mod Drag Racing Crash

It was a scary sight for anyone watching pro mod racing at the NHRA Spring Nationals in Texas last month. Driver Sidnei Frigo from Brazil was in his white Corvette when he went a bit too close to the center line, and it lurched his car into the outside wall and into a tumble. As parts and debris finally settled down, emergency crews rushed to Frigo, who was responsive from his up-side down Corvette.

Watching the video below, you can see that both cars struggled for traction, but it was Frigo who obviously fared much worse. He’s reported to have a broken arm, but is expected to make a full recovery. Frigo’s car though is likely a total loss after taking about a dozen nose-to-tail flips.

It certainly makes you thankful for all of the safety advances that are currently available for the drag racers out there. Safety items are one of those things you hope you’ll never have to use, but you sure are glad you have when bad stuff happens.
