Corvette of the Week: Welcome to the C5 Club

1998 Corvette of the Week

When buying a new old ‘Vette, there are so many factors to consider, the whole process can become overwhelming. Fortunately, that’s what Corvette Forum is for: forum members helping other forum members find great cars to post awesome stuff about on the forums.

Longtime member Pacecar78 knows as much, which is why he turned to CF for questions about what model to get next: the C5 or the C6. And this is from a man who already knows a thing or two about Corvette ownership, having owned a 1978 Pace Car that garnered him an NCRS Top Flight award back in 2,000.

With the help of Cordy M, coia96vette, Corvette#2, and others, Pacecar78 set aside concerns about the Z51 package, and made up up his mind and purchase the delicious 1998 Corvette you see here.

Here’s what Pacecar78 has to say about her:

Last Thursday, I bought the 1998 car with the Z51 pkg. It is RED, and Pewter. Pristine, near perfect. Has only 28.5 K miles. Chrome wheels, New tires, Borla exhaust, lots of cosmetic add-ons, and bone stock.

I am 71 yrs. and was concerned about the ride. The ride is a little firm, but not bad, at all — it was just what I was expecting after hearing comments from the forum members, about Z51. Glad I got it. Really takes the curves, well.

Congrats on a well-informed purchase, Pacecar78. And on being this week’s Corvette of the Week!
