Video Mash-Up: Corvette ZR1 vs. Lexus LFA at the ‘Ring!

Back in June, the ZR1 ran the famed N?rburgring in a sizzling 7:19.63, besting efforts from competition like the Dodge Viper ACR, Porsche’s 911 GT2 RS and the Nissan GT-R. Now, it’s important to note that there is no official production car ‘Ring record. This is for bragging rights only, and to be honest, I think that makes these runs even cooler. Of course, nothing lasts forever. Two weeks ago, the Lexus LFA N?rburgring Package lopped five seconds off the ‘Vette’s time, and today, Ma Mopar is claiming an outrageously quick time of “7:12 and change,” though at this point, there’s no video.

One of the perennial car geek parlor games is what constitutes a “production car.” Currently, the top two spots are held by Radical?which basically makes LMP cars with a license plate bracket?and the third spot is held by Gumpert, which makes a race-ready, street-legal spaceship called the Apollo Sport. So we’re essentially talking about a battle for fourth place here, because I don’t see any major manufacturer?even with a super-limited edition model?besting the Radical’s 6:48 seconds any time soon. That said, this mash-up of the ZR1 and LFA videos is pretty interesting. Thanks to QUIKAG for posting the video!

There’s plenty of discussion going on in the Forum right now about this topic, so head over and sound off!
