Deception Corvette Will Be A Lambo-Powered Beast
American Legends Hotrods and Musclecars is building a 1964 Corvette restomod, which will get a Roadster shop chassis and 5.2-liter Lamborghini Gallardo V10.
The results are always exciting when European craftsmanship meets American muscle. Back in November 2020, we discussed Zagato’s beautiful Italian grand tourer Rivolta GTZ, which was recently up for sale on Issimi for the price of $1.35 million. Now, Phoenix, Arizona-based company American Legends Hotrods and Musclecars is working on another exciting Corvette restomod. The new build is called Deception, and it is based on a 1964 C2 Corvette.
The build is already underway, and you can follow it on the company’s official YouTube channel- American Legends Builds. The custom car started its life as a non-split window ’64 ‘Vette which the shop procured for the price of $28,000. The build started earlier last month, and the team had their work cut out for them.
Under the hood of this retro-futuristic creation will sit a 2014 Lamborghini Gallardo LP560’s 5.2-liter V10. This is not the first time that the Arizona-based outfit has mated an Italian thoroughbred powerplant with the beautiful bodywork of a classic American muscle car. The company also stole the spotlight at SEMA 2018 with its Corrupttt Mustang. The custom car builder’s creation featured a Ferrari F430 twin-turbocharged motor.
The finished Deception Corvette only exists in form of a rendering for now. The car was designed by digital artist Karan Adivi. The designer shared his thoughts on the Deception Corvette. “It wasn’t easy to blend modern Lamborghini looks with a classic Split Window Corvette, but here we are. I’m extremely happy with the outcome,” says Adivi.
Deception Corvette will get an independent rear suspension. The headlights and taillights will get a LED treatment with the latter stretching across the width of the rear-end.
Owner-operator at American Legends, Tony Arme talked about his collaboration with Adivi. “I think in this process you have to have some sort of connection I guess with the designer. You know, if he’s going to be making some of the decisions of how your car is going to look, you need to like what he does. So, you know based on how you pick or choose, who you want, this is how I would do it,” said Arme.
The front-end ditches its chrome bumper in favor of a carbon-fiber splitter. The custom car will also get flush mount glass courtesy of Fesler USA. The frame of the 1964 ‘Vette had a serious rust problem. As a result of this, the team decided to swap it with a Roadster Shop chassis.
Most of the bodywork will be replaced with widebody panels from Corvette Dynamics. At the rear, we find a dual-tip exhaust sticking out of a carbon fiber diffuser. The powerplant will sport a bronze finish which will complement the color scheme of the rims. The team will also bolt on the intake manifolds backward to make the powerplant fit inside the engine bay. Deception Corvette will get manifolds from a ’19 Lamborghini Performante.
