Does the C8 Corvette Look Better With or Without Emblems?
Many C8 Corvette owners have removed the emblems and badging from their cars, but does it look better freshly shaven, or worse?
Almost since the advent of the automobile, folks have been modifying them to suit their personal taste, in a variety of ways. Aside from adding aftermarket parts and accessories, that includes de-badging cars, or removing factory emblems for what many consider to be a cleaner, more sanitary look. Recently, this particular topic surfaced the CorvetteForum forums, with one member asking aloud – does the C8 Corvette look better with or without emblems and/or badges?
“In my quest to continue to find the perfect look on my car – which means the final .05% – I am now debating if I want to remove or swap any of the emblems,” said jipper. “I have a Rapid Blue Z51 with Rapid Blue accents.” The OP asks if his fellow forum members believe the car would look better with or without its front flag emblem, the Stingray on the trunk, and the Corvette lettering in the rear, specifically.
Perhaps unsurprisingly, several other members have already removed certain emblems, and even provided some photos to show what their cars look like sans badging. “I removed the CORVETTE lettering soon after getting the car, I prefer a cleaner look in the rear,” said shiumai of his orange C8 Corvette. “My front emblem was removed when I PPF’d the front of the car and sat in my drawer for a while as I liked the look without it better. When the Z06 came out, I noticed the flags on the rear hatch and liked it, so I removed the Stingray and replaced it with the front emblem (after carefully flattening it out with a heat gun). Hope these pics help.”
“To me, the standard black plastic emblems cheapen the look of the car,” added Walt White Coupe, who has a white C8 Corvette. “Why GM would put emblems on the car that are that ugly surprises me. First I removed all of them and that was a much better look. Then I saw a car with the ‘chrome’ option emblems and they actually looked good to me. Less than 5% of owners opted for the chrome emblems, probably because they were a $295 option and that’s crazy. I found the same emblems on eBay for ~$60 and installed them (excluding the rear fish). I’m very happy with the new look.”
Despite this, it’s a pretty even split between folks that think the C8 Corvette looks better without these emblems and those that feel like owners should just leave the car as-is. Thus, we’re curious to hear what you think – does the C8 look better sans badging, or is it better to simply retain the factory look? Head over here and let us know!
