Dyno Tuned C7 Corvette ZR1 Experiences Some Serious Gains

By -

Nothing more than a tune enables this mighty Corvette ZR1 to pick up lots of power. However, there’s even more on the way.

Fresh off the showroom floor, few people would scoff at the C7 Corvette ZR1’s hefty power output. In fact, there are people out there in the world who think that its 755 hp and 715 lb-ft of torque are already too much. But then there’s the rest of us, folks who aren’t quite content no matter how much power Chevy stuffs into its king of the hill Corvette. And clearly, RaceProvenMotorsports belongs in that bucket.

With the help of the folks at HP Tuners, RPM manages to crack the ZR1’s ECU and do some tuning on the dyno. They claim to be the first to do this, a statement that we can’t exactly debunk. But truthfully, we’re not so sure a lot of C7 ZR1 owners drove their cars and immediately thought ‘you know what – this car needs more power!’

This particular Corvette has just a couple of mods otherwise, like a GM Performance intake and ARH 2-inch headers. But with those easy-breathing bits and a good tune, this ZR1 sees some impressive gains. The car baselines at 662 hp and 669 lb-ft right off the bat with 15 lbs of boost. With a little more timing, those numbers shoot up to an impressive 749 hp and 764 lb-ft, an increase of 87 hp and 95 lb-ft.

That isn’t the end for this Corvette ZR1, however. The crew is going to replace the stock blower with Cobb huffer, adding meth injection, a cam, and more. So you can bet that this car will be well worth watching as it progresses from factory beast to built-up monster. That is, if you have an insatiable appetite for power, as we do!
