eBay Find: Purple and Pink Flamed 1964 Corvette

Custom purple paint with pink flames will surely stand out in a crowd.

Want a Corvette that stands out at the local show ‘n’ shine? Or perhaps even at Corvettes at Carlisle? This custom-painted purple ‘64 Corvette will draw plenty of attention from the standard-fare C2s and C3s that turn up. We can say with some certainty that no other C2 looks like this anywhere in the world, and it can be yours for $59,000 on eBay.

The ad copy requires a little time to decipher, but we think we’ve got it figured out. The car originally came in Tuxedo Black over Tuxedo Black; the seller says only six were built as such. However, the lack of punctuation in one phrase requires a bit more parsing: “Painted by riddler award winner painter in 73 car looks stunning.”

We think this means the person who custom-painted this Corvette in 1973 won the prestigious Don Ridler Memorial Award given out at Detroit’s Autorama. The eBay ad doesn’t say the painter’s name, which would be helpful information. If that claim is true—and it would be a strange one to make falsely—we think it’s probably worth a significant chunk of the asking price, if not more. If you’re unfamiliar, you can read more on “The Ridler” (as it’s commonly known) on HotRod.com.

The condition looks fantastic, possibly owing to 35 years in storage. Mechanically, the car appears to be a fairly standard C2, albeit one optioned with an eye toward performance. The engine is the L76 version of the 327, which makes 365 horsepower. That’s paired with a normal Muncie 4-speed manual transmission. The seller says it both “goes like hell” and “looks just like it sounds: loud n nasty.”

It’s surely not a Corvette for everyone, but we think someone will find this purple eye-catcher to their liking. If you’re a big fan of purple and pink, you can find this Corvette on eBay.
