Meanest-Sounding C6 Corvette: Facebook Fridays

By -

Make sure you turn the volume down for this video. You don’t want to wake your neighbors. On second thought, crank the volume full blast and click play to hear this C6 Corvette Z06 roar.

One of the things we love about car movies is hearing engines rev right before some big racing scene. That type of combustion-sourced fanfare keeps us flocking back to theaters. Oftentimes, though, it’s tough to gauge the authenticity of exhaust sounds in films. We’re always left wondering whether they’re the real thing, or if they’re foleyed up in a studio with high-tech mixing consoles and racks of equipment.

To add to the deception in our lives, these days some carmakers resort to piping in simulated exhaust notes through the vehicle’s audio system to satisfy our yearning for cars that sound as wonderfully as they perform.

But there’s nothing like the real thing, even if you’re limited to appreciating it on social media. In this case we’re talking about a genuine, Earth-rattling, American-born rumble that you know would irk that neighbor who lives a block down the street from you, and is always bragging about his frugal Hyundai Elantra.

Today’s affront to neighborhood peace comes from this C6 Corvette posted by Matthew Weaver. It’s an affront so grand, it rightfully deserves to be honored in this week’s Facebook Fridays post. Here we have 39 seconds of growling, thunderous American muscle that is about as intimidating as a bridge crumbling overhead. And while it’s a little tough to figure out if this is actually Matthew’s Corvette, he does share a few mods he says are credited with helping to give the C6 that sinister growl. Those mods include a TSP LS7R cam, TSP headers, off-road x-pipe, ZR1 catback and AHP Stage-4 heads with MoldStar guides.

Bottom line, this is the kind of sound that car movies should be made of.
