With many still waiting on a regular C8, here’s how you can improve your chances of getting a C8 Corvette Z06.

The line to bring home a C8 Corvette is still pretty long, as the mid-engine supercar remains a hot commodity among enthusiasts. But many are already looking forward to the even-hotter C8 Corvette Z06, which we still don’t know a lot about, though we’ve seen some spy videos that seem to indicate that it will be packing a flat-plane crank V8. So it goes without saying that when the Z06 does arrive, it’ll be rather hard to get as well.

Thus, those looking to purchase a C8 Corvette Z06 are likely wondering just how they can improve their chances of doing so. And this video from YouTuber Austin Everett, or Speed Phenom as he’s otherwise known, is designed to help in that regard. So let’s take a look at his tips on how to secure a C8 Corvette Z06 and determine whether they’re helpful or not.

Get on Multiple Dealer Lists

Everett’s first tip is to improve your odds of securing a C8 Z06 is akin to the way you’d try to win a lottery – buy more tickets. “When it comes to securing one of these allocations, the best thing you can do is get on the list at as many Chevy dealers as possible,” Everett says.

This is certainly a good tip, and one that many C8 buyers didn’t follow, only to find themselves stuck with a 2021 instead of a 2020. This is especially important with the Z06, as it will be produced in smaller quantities, and having options could also help you avoid dealer markups, or at least be in a position to choose the lowest.

Get on Those Lists Now

It goes without saying that if you aren’t already on the list for a Z06, you’re already at a big disadvantage. Many people were placing deposits for one shortly after the C8 came out, despite the fact that we don’t really know when it will launch. Everett notes that he’s “put in the work” for his cars in the past, calling dealers all over the country and working hard to get as high on the list as possible, which can only happen if you’re one of the first to plunk down a deposit.

Look for Bigger Dealers

As Everett correctly points out, Chevy dealers that do more volume are likely going to get more Z06 allocations. Thus, it could certainly pay off to have a chat with the bigger dealers in your area or other areas. But on the flip side, we’d recommend checking smaller dealerships too, especially in rural areas, because they may not have anyone waiting for a car at all.

Be Patient

As is the case with the regular C8 (and every Corvette before it), supply will eventually catch up to demand. In a few years, these cars will be common and easy to get, with stock sitting on dealer lots with discounts attached, most likely. So if you’re the type of person who doesn’t have to have the latest and greatest Corvette right now, it might behoove you to sit back and exercise some patience. And who knows – it might just save you a lot of money, too.
