2020 C8 Corvette

Can you guess the rarest C8 Corvette model and trim combination for 2020, with only 283 units produced?

2020 Corvette production is expected to continue through early December, so the model year isn’t officially over just yet. However, order changes are no longer allowed, which means that General Motors is able to go ahead and release the final model year statistics. And needless to say, this information is quite interesting to soak in.

For starters, a grand total of 20,368 cars will be produced for the 2020 model year – roughly half what GM originally expected. The vast majority of 2020 Corvette buyers opted for the coupe – 82.4%, to be specific. That breaks down to 16,787 coupes and just 3,581 Stingray convertibles, which means first-year drop tops are bound to be collectible down the road.

While the C8 Corvette was lauded for its sub-$60,000 price tag, few chose to go with the 1LT – only 2,663, or 15.9% of buyers. A total of 6,685 2LT coupes were produced, while most buyers went for the range-topping 3LT with 7,439 units produced. Most convertible buyers opted for the 3LT package as well, totaling 56.3% or 2,017 units. The 2LT came in at 1,281 units, while the 1LT drop top is ultra rare at just 283 produced.

As far as colors go, the most popular by a long shot was Torch Red, representing 25% of all cars produced. It was followed by Arctic White (15%), Black (11.7%), and Sebring Orange (6.8%). The least popular hue was Zeus Bronze, with just 2.69% of buyers going that route.

In terms of option packages, a whopping 76% of buyers went for the Z51 package, which isn’t a huge surprise. On the other hand, very few buyers – just 1,497 total – went for the Carbon Flash stripes. But the rarest option of all was the HVT or black/gray suede interior, which accounted for just 0.1 percent of total production – 15 coupes and 4 convertibles. So if your 2020 Corvette has that, congratulations for hitting the future lottery.

Carbon Flash badges, on the other hand, were incredibly popular and wound up on 91.6% of all cars produced. Front lift proved to be a popular option a well at 58.4%, while the performance exhaust box was checked 89.2% of the time. GT2 seats were the most popular at 61.6%, while Painted Carbon Flash Open Spoke Wheels topped the list at 41.7%, closely followed by the Bright Silver Open Spoke with 36.9%.
