Both occupants in this C7 Corvette Z06 survived, but things could have gone much, much worse.

While all kinds of vehicles are involved in crashes on a daily basis, certain models – like the Corvette – get more press than most. This is because we’re talking about a high-profile sports car, of course, but we can also partially place the blame on the folks that drive them in a less than responsible manner. That certainly applies to this horrific looking C7 Corvette Z06 crash that happened when the driver was speeding on a wet road in Pamelia, New York recently, according to North Pole Fire Department.

The crash happened just a few days ago at around 6:45 in the evening, when the driver was reportedly speeding around a curve when he lost control on the wet road and smashed into a tree. Luckily for the driver and passenger, medical personnel weren’t too far away, and were able to respond quickly. Another unit soon arrived and managed to extract the occupants of the C7 Corvette Z06 from the mangled up mess that it had become in an instant, but things were so bad that both City of Watertown Fire and Calcium Fire had to come in with the assist.

The driver of the Corvette was in pretty bad shape, as one might imagine, so emergency personnel called in Lifenet, and they were airlifted to Upstate University Hospital in Syracuse. The driver was listed in critical condition, while the passenger fared much better, and is listed in stable condition at the same facility. What’s particularly amazing about this incident is the fact that even though trees were surrounding the vehicle, the responding units were able to extract both occupants in roughly 15 minutes.

At 18:45 Northpole was dispatched for an MVA car vs tree with unknown injuries. A member in the area arrived quickly and…

In this case, we can certainly say that both of these folks were extremely lucky, as things could have gone much, much worse. Had someone not been able to call for help or if both occupants were unconscious, things could obviously have obviously gone a much different way, and we could be talking about a tragedy here. Regardless, if nothing else, this is a great reminder to drive safe out there, especially in less than ideal conditions.
