How-To Tuesday: Choosing Between a C4 or C5 Corvette

I’m not the best person to have this conversation with about whether you should choose a C4 or C5 Corvette. Here’s the deal: I own a C4, but I’ve spent almost as much time driving a C5, since my dad and brother each have or had one. Which would I prefer? I don’t know that I can answer that question, so I’ll defer to today’s How-To Tuesday article for better clues to help you come to a decision.

NV C4

That’s my C4 above. I’ve had her for over 15 years and I have no intention of ever letting her go (if I have any say over it anyway). So you see, I am likely considered biased in this conversation. I absolutely love my Corvette. There are things I know, such as I know that the C5 is faster, handles better, is more fuel efficient… the list is long. But this car and I have been through a TON together, so yeah, you can say what you want about the deficiencies of the C4 versus the C5, they will go right in one ear and out the other.

FRC and coupe C5

All that being said, I’ve put miles on both of the Corvettes pictured above, and they are each fantastic in their own right. Comfortable seats, great looking design, flawless paint. Fast, very fast. I could keep going.

I’m fortunate to have grown up in a Corvette household. As you can see, to ask me to pick between these two generations is not fair. Yes, I know, life isn’t fair. But that doesn’t mean I have to actually pick one! You can’t make me. So now it’s your turn to choose between the C4 or C5. You may find that the decision isn’t as clear cut as you may think. Fortunately, today’s How-To Tuesday article will be more helpful than me.
