If you’re one of those pure enthusiasts for natural aspirated engines, but you still crave the kind of  power that comes with the Z06, then pay close attention to this one.

Katech is offering packages called Street Attack and Track Attack that’ll boost the C7’s naturally aspirated LT1 V8 to 650 horsepower with a number of performance upgrades, as highlighted in a GM Authority report.

According to Katech’s website, the packages will be available in August. But pulling off the upgrade is no simple matter, as detailed in a Hot Rod report. Here’s the extensive list of mods needed to get more power out of the engine:

  • 427ci Street Attack LT1 engine
  • Forged 4340 crankshaft
  • Forged H-beam rods
  • Forged 2618 pistons
  • Halltech C7 carbon fiber air intake system
  • Katech Camshaft
  • VVT limiter
  • Katech AFM delete billet valley cover
  • High speed lifters
  • High Lift valve springs
  • Valve spring locators
  • Intake valve seals
  • Exhaust valve seals
  • Titanium valve spring retainers
  • C5-R timing chain
  • LT1 long stroke piston squirters
  • Katech CNC-ported heads
  • Chassis dyno calibration

Katech has yet to announce how much the packages will actually cost. But after reading through all that, I’m inclined to think you’d be better off buying the Z06 and just getting over any issues you might have with forced induction.
