Texas Police Department Shows off Their 1,000-HP C6 Z06

Texas police department’s C6 will be used for community events instead of patrolling the streets.

Looks like a major drug bust has yielded the New Braunfels Police Department a pretty valuable item.

In fact, the local Texas police department also hopes this catch will be a resourceful recruiting tool to encourage more people to protect and serve.

Yep, that’s a 1,000-plus horsepower Z06 sporting official Braunfels police livery. The car came courtesy of a drug seizure. And it’s 1,005 hp, to be exact. According to the police department’s Facebook page, the Corvette was seized during a DEA and Comal County Metro Narcotics Task Force raid on a narcotics gang, which was netting roughly $4.5 million a month.

The bust, which included arrests spanning from California to Atlanta, also seized drugs, high-caliber weapons, cars, cash, jewelry, and other assets totaling $500K. There also was a river campground seized, valued at $1 million.

It sounds like this 1,000-horseopwer Z06 might have fallen at the lower end of valuables in this drug raid. That is, unless you’re a diehard fan like us, who’d take a Corvette over owning a campground any day.

The only disappointing thing about Braunfels Police Department’s Z06 is that it won’t be used to chase down lawbreaking citizens on the street as a patrol car. Nope, this Corvette will instead be used for community outreach events and school-related functions.

That’s not to say that we don’t admire the police department’s community outreach efforts, because we do. It’s just that there’s a part of us that feels like restricting the use of a 1,000-hp Z06 to being a showpiece seems like a waste of a good crime-fighting tool.
