An LS7-Powered C5 Z06 Will Dominate the OPTIMA Ultimate Street Car Invitational
The season closer for this year’s OPTIMA’s Search for the Ultimate Street Car, presented by Advance Auto Parts is approaching fast. The season finale will be held at Auto Club Speedway in Fontana, CA on October 10 and 11. However, this next competitor is one that has had a little help from another OPTIMA Ultimate Street Car Challenger. Help to the tune of 540 horsepower.
Karl Dunn is one of the most seasoned competitors in the OUSCI, and he knew his C5 Corvette Z06 was going to need an upgrade to be competitive. Now, for those fans of /DRIVE Big Muscle, you’ll undoubtedly remember the Camaro dubbed “Blu Balz.”
Blu Balz was one of the most ridiculous cars ever featured on the channel, and made use of a dry-sump LS7 motor. Karl just happens to be friends with Cris Gonzalez, who helped him build Blu Balz, and they decided to rip out the Camaro’s motor and shove it into the Corvette. What that means is Karl’s Corvette now makes 540 horsepower at the wheels, and sounds like an absolute banshee at redline.
It’s perhaps one of the fastest C5 Corvettes on the planet in terms of getting around a road course, and we can’t wait to see what Karl can do during the season closer next month.
