The older I get, the more I begin to understand how my parents were infuriated with new technologies. There is no doubt that technology has made our lives easier in some facets — take the fact that my coffee maker can be set so I wake up to the smell of a fine, dark Kenyan brew; or simply the advent of the Amazon Echo device. I have never been in more danger of spending my last paycheck in one fell swoop, because I can now tell “Alexa” to purchase all sorts of things I can’t afford.

Technology has its place in our lives, but there is something about a push-button ignition that I cannot quite understand. At what point did having a key become a problem? A vehicle that can be unlocked via an RF signal as you approach the car is awesome, but the sheer annoyance of car manufacturers removing the physical key annoys me. At the very least, it should be required to insert the key fob in a dedicated holding place.

This dad, comedian Vic Dibitetto, aka Ticked-Off Vic, shares the same frustrations for push-button-start vehicles. And in the NSFW video below, he perfectly addresses a situation I had a couple of weeks back, because my girlfriend’s stupid BMW has the same feature. So I had to take her key fob to her, so she could turn off her car. Really BMW, you didn’t see that coming?

Be warned, the language in this video is NSFW.
