Orange Returns to the Corvette Color Palette for 2015
This is just a Photoshopped image; not the new Daytona Sunrise Orange Metallic
This morning, I began gathering data to write a post about how orange was a missing hue in the C7 Corvette paint scheme, but as I was scuba diving through the forums, news began to break from Corvette Forum members attending the 2014 National Corvette Museum Bash. According to forum member “mpuzach” (a.k.a. Mike), orange is coming back to the Corvette for 2015.
Mike says, “It was announced by Harlan Charles at the bash this morning; I was there and heard it with my own ears. It will be called Daytona Sunrise Orange Metallic. I spoke with Harlan one-on-one afterward and he told me the color will be somewhat lighter and brighter than the former Daytona Sunset Orange Metallic.”
The Daytona Sunset Orange Metallic Mike mentioned was available during the 2005 and 2006 model years. That shade gave way to Atomic Orange in 2007, which was superseded by Inferno Orange in 2011. You can see the progression of oranges in the photo below (click on the image for a larger view).
From Left to Right: Daytona Sunset Orange, Atomic Orange, Inferno Orange
Tell us which orange you like best in the poll below:
Looking at the Corvette oranges of the past 10 years, notice how Daytona Sunset Orange came first, and now we’re getting Daytona Sunrise Orange Metallic for 2015. I find that arrangement fascinating because it corresponds with the Sun’s activity during the 24 Hours of Daytona. During the race, the sun sets first, and then it rises.
It is nice to see orange making a return for the 2015 model year. What color would you like to see Chevy add to the options list? Check out all the photoshopped Z06 images below to see what fits your style.
