ProCharged, but Otherwise Stock C6 Corvette Runs 9s All Day

By -

Want to flirt with 8-second runs reliably? Slap a ProCharger on your C6, and that’s about it.

There’s something about the LS that makes it so popular in drag racing. The obvious reasons are reliability, strength, and consistency. Joe White’s C6 has an LS3, and aside from a hot cam, it’s all stock. Throwing a ProCharger at it just goes to prove how strong it is. In all, 21 pounds of boost is going through the engine, and along with a meth injection kit, it’s easy to see where the speed comes from.

Amazingly, the engine soaks up the boost without complaint. Not only is the engine strong, but the rest of the drive-line, as well. A stock transmission backs up the power that the LS3 puts down, and that’s a recipe for some seriously quick times.

Speed Syndicate’s Quick 30 season opener saw Joe’s C6 running times that were hardly separated by a 10th of a second. The first run in the video above was a stout 9.051 seconds at 149.27 miles per hour, and another run at 9.057 seconds would have made for a photo finish. Trap speed was a bit higher at 151.20, however.

Joe’s C6 proves what we’ve known for years. It really doesn’t take much to pump out big power from an LS, because GM does engines right.
