Products That Actually Work: Skid Plate-Protecting Fangs

It’s a natural annoyance that comes with having a low-to-the-ground sports car. Curbs, speed bumps, rocks, or other debris are all detrimental to your ride, if you’re not paying attention or don’t know how to maneuver around them. It’s part of the reason that some of us look like we just took down 10 beers and are swerving around the road at 11 a.m. trying to avoid bumps. Scraping the bottom of your car is like nails on a chalkboard. But, because humans are problem solvers, there are solutions.

A few options for protecting the skid plate under your Corvette are single wheels, double wheels, plating or covers, or fangs. In an old Corvette Forum poll, you guys said that fangs are the best form of protection, and I have to agree.

The fangs are subtle and small, they’re easy to install, they’re not expensive, and you don’t lose any ground clearance. What’s not to like?

Sac City Corvette is a pretty popular retailer of fangs for C4, C5, C6, and C7 ‘Vettes. Here’s an instructional video to show how quickly they can be installed, just to give you an idea.
