Project Stingray: How Is This Whole Corvette Computer Thing Happening?

So, this Project Stingray computer thing is getting a little crazy. But how was the project born, and who the hell is paying for it? Those are the two questions I have heard the most over the last few weeks, so I decided that we should talk about that.

Let’s start with the important fact that this is not a sponsored project. No other company approached me or Corvette Forum to make this thing happen. Quite the opposite, actually. I had the idea pop into my brain, and then I went chasing after people who wanted to donate or loan parts to make it happen.

And those are our key words, folks: donate and loan.

Once I decided to build this thing, I wrote out a list of parts that I wanted to use, and I started asking companies if they wanted to donate those parts. Some said yes, some said no, and some said we can loan you some for a few weeks. Parts that I couldn’t source, I am paying for myself. It’s that simple.

So to clear things up, nobody is cutting me a check, and nobody is cutting Corvette Forum a check either. That said, I’m a broke freelance writer, so if anyone out there just wants to cut me big fat checks to do stuff like this, give me a call.
