Corvettes at Carlisle

It’s no secret that despite the appeal of the Corvette as an everyday sports car, it has a cherished legacy in the world of racing as well.

Look no further than the new C7.R, which has been heating up this year’s GT Le Mans series, for proof of that.

Two special race-themed displays at this year’s Corvettes at Carlisle event will pay homage to the car’s history in racing as well as its storied popularity as a street car.

One of the displays will showcase cars that were part of the Corvette Challenge series created in 1988 and 1989 by General Motors and the legendary racer, John Powell. The other display for the August 22 – 24, event will feature a range of Corvette race cars over the years like the famed #1 Purple People Eater Corvette.

Owners of both designated racing-Corvette classifications are encouraged to apply for the invitation-only displays.

The 2014 Corvettes at Carlisle event will also feature a number of special guests who have been tied to Corvette racing over the years.
