For a Corvette restorer like Mike Walsh, crediting a find as a “true gem” has to meet tougher stipulations than it does for most.

See, Mike — owner of The Early Vette Shop in Shohola, Pennsylvania — is an extremely picky expert at classifying rare and unique Corvette finds, as highlighted in a Hot Rod report. That’s why the second he saw this 1961 Corvette, which had been stored in a garage for 48 years, he knew it was special.

The ‘Vette, which Mike learned about after being contacted by the daughter of the owner, was literally one of those finds that even Mike classifies as one-of-a-kind. The car only had 36,000 miles on the odometer, a lot of life left in the exterior paint, and a practically spotless interior. But even more impressive, it appeared that the engine bay housing the Corvette’s 283 ci powerplant had hardly been touched. He even found the car’s original steel black wheels in the garage.

Yep, this Corvette find is truly one-of-a-kind, and well worth the full read. So check it out, then let us know what you think.
