Chevrolet C3 Corvette Fire

It’s always the little things to be wary of when it comes to a classic like the C3 Corvette.

Having a classic to drive around town is something that can be extremely fun or incredibly painful. One always has to keep an eye out for little things that could potentially turn into massive problems. Such is the case with this Chevrolet C3 Corvette.

This C3, which Corvette Blogger believes is likely a 1978 or 1979 model, went up in flames earlier this week. The cause of the fire that turned the Corvette from a gorgeous shade of red to a burnt hue of silver was a ruptured fuel line, according to the Missoula County Sheriff’s Office. The unnamed owner apparently installed a new engine last year.

The owner, as the report claims, started the vehicle in his garage, then it burst into a ball of flames. Luckily, he was able to push the Corvette out of the garage before the fire could spread to his house.

Firefighters reportedly arrived at the fiery scene at 2:12 p.m. and fought the fire for a few hours. But they weren’t able to save the sports car, which suffered extensive damage. The vehicle barely looks like a Corvette anymore, with the entire front end looking like it’s straight out of a nightmare.

If you plan to do sizable modifications to a vehicle, particularly those that include engine swaps, make sure everything’s working properly. Or else it could turn into a piece of art that’s sculpted by fire.
