Salvaged C6 Corvette Turns Out to Be One Heck of a Bargain Buy

Salvaged C6 Corvette Project

While many scrap yard buys turn out to be junk, this salvaged C6 Corvette looks like the bargain of the century so far.

As most automotive enthusiasts are well aware by now, buying a wrecked vehicle from a salvage yard is a big risk, but like most big risks, it can potentially turn into a big reward. Buying a car for pennies on the dollar and fixing it up yourself always sounds like a great idea, but sometimes, the damage goes far beyond what makes financial or logical sense to repair. Luckily for YouTuber Scrap Life Garage, that didn’t turn out to be the case with this salvaged C6 Corvette – at least not yet.

The premise for this project is quite simple – find an LS3-powered salvaged C6 Corvette worth saving, then rebuild it using only the parts that the new owner has sitting around his shop. Of course, since our host owns a massive auto dismantling business, that shouldn’t be a problem, but this project is still interesting to the average Joe for a number of reasons, particularly since it’s a super cheap way to obtain and fix up a cool car.

It didn’t take long to find a C6 that looked lightly damaged in the listing, though as we all know, that isn’t always the case. After dragging this Corvette back to his shop, however, our host notes that he got “very, very lucky.” It isn’t perfect, as there are some hack mods on the car like a muffler delete, but the undercarriage hasn’t suffered any major damage, at least. There’s a broken axle and of course some fiberglass damage to the rear quarter from the car’s accident, which is likely why it was totaled in the first place.

Next, our host gets this salvaged C6 Corvette started and it runs quite smoothly, but the most surprisingly thing might just be how nice the interior is. This is a high-spec car, and it seems as it it’s been well-taken care of, because the cabin is in fantastic shape save for the typical wear.

Thus, the plan here is to fix the body damage, replace the worn out suspension components, and give the foggy headlights a polish or replace them as well. There are still some unknowns, like if the car is straight enough to align properly, but so far, this C6 looks like one heck of a bargain.
