This 1959 Corvette Has Been With the Original Owner’s Family Almost Its Entire Life

1959 Corvette

With just 20k original miles, this 1959 Corvette is a pretty amazing survivor in excellent condition.

While we occasionally hear stories of one-owner early Corvettes, the truth is, these cars are getting a bit old, and so are we. As such, it’s hard to find a first-gen that hasn’t lived with multiple owners by this point in time, or at least ones that have remained in the same family since new. And that’s precisely what makes this 1959 Corvette that’s up for grabs at Bring a Trailer so special – it remained in the possession of the original owner’s family until 2021, at which point it was finally sold before it was purchased by someone else earlier this year. Now, it’s going up for grabs as it seeks its fourth owner in over 60 years.

Amazingly, this fine example of a 1959 Corvette still wears its original blue paint, though it was damaged in transit when new and had to have the front fenders and hood repainted. There are some imperfections in the paint, as one might expect from a 60+ year-old car, as well as a couple of rips in the white soft top, but overall, it presents in very nice condition, with the original wheel covers and a set of white-wall tires present.

The same goes for the matching blue interior, which is in excellent shape save for some paint peeling and a few stains on the carpet. All of the original goodies are present and accounted for, including the factory Wonderbar radio, instrumentation, and steering wheel. The odometer shows just 20,500 miles, which the seller states is the actual mileage, with some paperwork to back it up.

Regardless, the engine bay is pretty clean, with the original 283 V8 having recently been treated to some maintenance that includes the installation of replacement spark plugs, ignition wires, a distributor cap and rotor, GM-branded rubber hoses, a generator belt, and battery cables, while the carburetor has also been refurbished. It sends its power to the rear wheels via a four-speed manual transmission and a solid rear axle.

As a pretty nice example of a survivor, this 1959 Corvette is a special find, without a doubt, and it’s one that has rightfully attracted the attention of multiple bidders at this point. After all, how often do we come across original C1s with 20k miles and a long history of living with the same family?
