This 1990 Corvette ZR1 is easily one of the nicest on the planet and is one of just 905 produced to boot.

It isn’t uncommon to find low-mile Corvettes these days, especially special models like the ZR1. So it’s not exactly shocking that this 2,700 original-mile 1990 Corvette ZR1 up for grabs at Bring a Trailer exists. Regardless, that doesn’t take away from this immaculate ride’s appeal, and for those that appreciate the C4-gen ZR1s, it’s an incredible time capsule that immediately whisks us back to a very different point in time.

Essentially brand new given the scant mileage total, this 1990 Corvette ZR1 is also pretty rare, as it’s just one of 905 examples painted black in this particular model year. It has certainly been a while since we’ve come across a black C4 ZR1, so that makes perfect sense. Chances are, it’s also one of the nicer, lower-mileage examples of its breed to boot, so those seeking one in this particular hue probably don’t need to look much further.

This pristine C4 rolls on a set of 17-inch aluminum wheels wrapped with 275/40 front and 315/35 rear Goodyear Eagle ZR 35 tires, and like all ZR1s from this generation, features GM’s FX3 Selective Ride suspension package with electronically adjustable Bilstein shock absorbers, along with four-wheel anti-lock disc brakes.

The interior is quite luxurious by early 1990s standards as well, with amenities including black leather power-adjustable sport seats, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, cruise control, automatic climate control, power accessories, and a Delco Bose Gold Series sound system with CD and cassette players.

The real story lies under the hood, however, where you’ll find the legendary aluminum LT5 5.7-liter DOHC V8 that was co-designed by GM and Lotus and built by Mercury Marine. The exotic powerplant was originally rated to produce 375 horsepower and 370 pound-feet of torque, which flows to the rear wheels via a ZF six-speed manual transmission.

This amazing C4 ZR1 is nice enough that it has earned a slew of awards, including Gold Certified, Survivor, and Benchmark recognition from Bloomington Gold in 2010, along with the NCRS-McLellan Mark of Excellence Award in 2008. Now, it’s seeking a new owner, who will be tasked with maintaining this amazingly well-preserved machine for decades to come.
