If we return to the C5 as a comparison, it took the team three years before the LS1 was modified and production ready to power the Z06. Sometimes, as being a part of the Corvette crowd, we enjoy residing in our own little world and I’ll admit I can become a little myopic.

So I’ll be the first to say it: We simply don’t have three years.

If you haven’t taken the time to read up on what’s happening over at the Blue Oval and Ma Mopar, it may keep you awake at night. One of the major differences between 1997 and today is the sheer number of potential assassins on all levels, even from within our own castle walls? Camaro ZL1, I’m looking at you. But perhaps the greatest threat will come from the Shelby GT500, a real life ?mouse that roared.?

The question is, will we be ready to take up the gauntlet and retain the crown? What new weapons does GM have tucked away in the fortress to enhance the LT1? Because it will need them?look at these official performance specs:

The GT500 numbers are for the 2013 model, and the Blue Oval Boys are working hard on the all new 2015, which they claim will completely dethrone the King. Already enthusiast magazines are hailing the 2013 GT500’s engine as the best performance motor?bar none?which can be purchased at any price. Concerning! Quick, hand me a Xanax. Better yet? get me a double Jack!
