YouTuber Blown Away by Corvette ZR1’s Incredible Performance Value

By -

There are faster and more practical cars than the Corvette ZR1. But none can match its content per dollar ratio.

Glowing reviews of the C7 Corvette ZR1 are certainly nothing new. In fact, it seems like every reviewer on the planet has wrung out the fastest and most powerful Corvette ever around every kind of track and other paved surface. But no one does car reviews with as much, um, charisma as immensely popular YouTuber Shmee150. So we were rather curious to see what the overly excited Brit had to say about his experience behind the wheel of a ZTK-equipped ZR1.

Just cruising around town, our host finds that the ‘Vette drives “easily and gently,” giving few clues as to the monster that it truly is. Flip on track mode and turn on active rev matching, and things get more exciting. But the ZR1 really impresses when it gets to stretch its legs on the highway. “The acceleration in second gear – wow,” our host says. “It picks up speed so quickly. I’m actually a bit taken aback by how fast the numbers rise.”

That extreme performance comes with a relative bargain price tag, too. “You get so much car for the money,” he notes. “You get a proper supercar for, in relative terms, not as much as other cars with this much power and this much capability would cost you. And that’s the really impressive thing.

All-in-all, that’s the major sticking point in this particular review. Sure, there are things about the Corvette ZR1 that could be better. Like the steering feel, for example. But where else are you going to get this much car for this little cash? Right now, at least, that’s a pretty daunting proposition.
