Corvette C7 Z06 Wins Motor Trend’s Best Driver’s Car Drag Race

What do you get when you put a Z06 in a drag race up against the rest of the contenders in Motor Trend’s 2015 Best Driver’s Car competition? Well, something for us all to gloat about here at Corvette Forum, for one.

Yup, as you can see in the video below, the Z06, or “Big Nasty” as Motor Trend calls it, took first place in what’s being billed as the “World’s Greatest Drag Race.” On an abandoned airstrip at El Toro Marine Base, the Z06 posted a quarter mile time of 11.4 secs at 124.4 mph.

The contenders included the Mercedes AMG GT S, Bentley Continental GT3-R, Cadillac ATS-V, Volkswagen Golf R, Porsche Cayman GT4, Mazda MX-5 Miata, Mercedes-AMG C63 S, Lexus RC F, and the Cadillac CTS-V.

Sure, there are a few participants that probably don’t deserve to be paired up with the Z06 in a drag race. But there are also a number of heavyweight contenders, like the Bentley Continental GT3-R and the Mercedes-AMG GT S. So that should give Z06 owners a lot to brag about, especially after the Z06’s poor showing in the Best Driver’s Car competition.
